Speaking to TMZ Hip Hop, Trae shared that he received a life-changing call on New Year’s Day. Authorities informed him that his ex, Truth’s mother, had been arrested in El Centro, California, on child endangerment charges. This led to the long-awaited reunion.
Wasting no time, Trae flew from Texas to San Diego and drove over 100 miles to the small border town near Mexico. There, he was reunited with Truth, who had been missing since August.
The ordeal began when Trae dropped off Truth for a scheduled two-day visit with her mother in Houston. However, the mother failed to return the child, allegedly moving her between various homes with the help of others, including a grandmother.
Determined to find his daughter, Trae hired a private investigator who tracked the mother to California. Despite this, she remained elusive until her recent arrest.
Trae has since returned to Texas with his daughter, while the mother faces extradition to the state. Reflecting on the emotional reunion, Trae says he is focused on taking things one day at a time as they move forward together.
