“It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams - The Vivienne, has passed this weekend,” the statement read. “James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted, and amazing person. Their family is heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother, and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career.”
The Vivienne, known for their sharp wit and vibrant persona, won the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019. Prior to that, they gained recognition as a RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Ambassador in 2015.
In honor of The Vivienne’s passing, Drag Race judge Michelle Visage shared a heartfelt tribute. “I will always cherish our friendship, laughter, and your immense talent,” Visage wrote on social media. “It was incredible to watch you achieve your dream on the West End. You were a true star.”
Alongside their Drag Race success, The Vivienne also competed in the UK reality show Dancing on Ice in 2023, making it to the final round.
