“Hi, I’m pk, and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,” Jackson wrote. “Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface.”
Accompanying her heartfelt post, Jackson shared a video that included past memories of her smoking and drinking, followed by images of her sobriety chips collected over the years. She emphasized the transformative impact sobriety has had on her life.
“It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today,” she stated. “I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory. I get to grieve. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust. I feel the sun on my skin, and it’s warm.”
The past year has been a meaningful one for Jackson, marked by both personal and professional achievements. In December 2024, she announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Justin “Blue” Long. “Doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind, and I couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with,” she wrote at the time.
On the professional front, Jackson has continued to pursue her music career, honoring the legacy of her late father, Michael Jackson. During an August 2023 concert in Colorado, she acknowledged his influence, saying, “He put 50 years of blood, sweat, and tears and love and passion into doing what he did so that I can stand up here on stage in front of you and scream into a microphone.”
She also attended the 2024 Grammy Awards, further cementing her place in the music industry.
While Jackson acknowledges the challenges of her journey, she remains grateful for the opportunities sobriety has provided. Concluding her Instagram post, she reflected on the significance of her progress: “Here’s a little snapshot of what has been possible because of my sobriety, and my god, I can’t believe I almost missed it all. Thanks 1 • 7 • 20.”
