Megyn Kelly Criticizes Selena Gomez Over Emotional Video on Immigration Raids

Selena Gomez found herself at the center of controversy after posting — and later deleting — an emotional Instagram video addressing mass deportations in the U.S. The Only Murders in the Building star broke down in tears while expressing her distress over recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that affected hundreds of families.

In the now-deleted clip, Gomez included a Mexican flag emoji and apologized tearfully, saying, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can’t. I’ll try everything, I promise.”

The post sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans applauding her empathy and others criticizing her approach. Gomez later addressed the backlash via Instagram stories, stating, “Apparently it’s not OK to show empathy for people.”

However, Megyn Kelly was less than supportive. On her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, the commentator harshly criticized Gomez, calling her “unwell” for sharing such an emotional display publicly.

“She’s unwell. Obviously, this is an unwell person,” Kelly said. “Anybody who takes their phone, works up in tears, and posts a video of themselves crying into their phone is sick. That’s a sick person.”

Kelly also claimed that Gomez deleted the video after realizing many of her followers didn’t agree with her stance. “She was shocked to get any blowback whatsoever,” Kelly remarked.

The situation has ignited debates online about the fine line between public empathy and performative activism, especially when addressing sensitive topics like immigration.

Despite the backlash, Gomez’s team has remained silent on the controversy. Meanwhile, discussions surrounding her post continue to trend, reflecting the ongoing divide in public opinion over immigration policies.
