Jackman, who announced his split from his wife of 27 years, Deborra-lee Furness, in September 2023, appeared relaxed during the outing. Foster, fresh from the success of her Broadway revival and L.A. run of Once Upon a Mattress, filed for divorce from her husband, screenwriter Ted Griffin, in October 2023, after 10 years of marriage.
Neither Jackman nor Foster's representatives have commented on their recent dinner date.
Earlier in the week, Jackman attended one of the final performances of Foster's Once Upon a Mattress at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles on Jan. 4. Jackman was joined by Carol Burnett, who originally played Foster’s role in the 1959 production. Photos from the event show Jackman smiling and holding his phone toward Burnett, while the audience looked on during the special moment.
Jackman and Foster have both expressed admiration for one another's talents. During the 2024 Drama Desk Awards, Foster described Jackman as “one of the greatest guys ever,” while praising their collaboration in Music Man. Jackman, in turn, has acknowledged his admiration for Foster’s impressive resume, including her six Tony nominations and two wins.
Both actors have recently navigated personal challenges. Jackman and Furness, who met on the set of the Australian TV series Correlli and married in 1996, shared a statement in September about their decision to separate and pursue personal growth. Foster’s divorce from Griffin was filed in October 2023.
Looking ahead, Jackman is set to return to the stage with a series of live concerts titled From New York, with Love at Radio City Music Hall, beginning on Jan. 24 and running through 2025.
