Tory Lanez, currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, has filed a motion to contest the restraining order Megan requested on December 17, 2024. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, claims that Megan is abusing the legal system by seeking a civil harassment restraining order without direct contact. He argues that the petition is frivolous and that Megan is using her public status to silence opposing views.
Lanez's filing asserts that Megan, as a public figure, is weaponizing the justice system to cancel speech, stating, "Celebrities with millions of dollars misuse their power when they disagree with public opinions." He also cites California law, claiming that restraining orders should not infringe on free speech.
Megan's attorney, Mari Henderson, responded, calling Lanez's actions "delusional," given his violent criminal conviction. She expressed confidence that the court would protect Megan.
A preliminary hearing on Megan's restraining order request is set for January 9, 2025.
