Timothée Chalamet Crashes Lookalike Contest, Offers to Pay Fine

Timothée Chalamet recently caused a stir by crashing his own lookalike contest in New York City. Organized by YouTuber AnthPo (Anthony Po), the event gathered thousands at Washington Square Park on October 27, leading to NYPD intervention and a $500 fine for lacking a permit. Despite the unexpected turn, Po saw it as a small cost compared to the $4,000 spent on organizing the event.

Chalamet’s team later offered to pay the fine, calling the contest "awesome." Po declined the gesture, with event sponsor Partiful stepping in to cover the fee. Chalamet also earned a spot in Po’s ranking of lookalikes but placed only 13th. His mustache reportedly threw off his resemblance to his usual clean-shaven look.

The runner-up, Zander Dueve, managed a brief glimpse of the real Chalamet, noting, "He looked the least like himself out of everyone." Despite the actor’s brief appearance, his support added to the contest's buzz.

Celebrity lookalike contests have become a quirky trend. Paul Mescal once FaceTimed the winner of his Dublin contest, while Glen Powell offered a cameo for the family of his lookalike contest winner. Powell’s mother even acted as a judge in the Austin event, continuing the fun and personal engagement from stars with their doppelgängers.
