Superman Teaser Trailer Breaks Records with 250 Million Views in One Day

The new DC Universe kicked off with a huge success, thanks to the "Superman" teaser trailer. James Gunn, the filmmaker behind the project, shared on social media that the trailer was watched more than 250 million times within its first 24 hours.

In his post, Gunn thanked fans for the overwhelming support, writing, “Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views and a million social posts, ‘Superman’ is officially the most viewed and the most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros.” He also added, “We’re incredibly grateful and, most of all, excited to share this movie with you in July. Happy Holidays!”

The trailer's view count far outpaced many of this year’s other major movie trailers. For example, the “Joker: Folie à Deux” teaser received 167 million views, and “Inside Out 2” reached 157 million views. However, Marvel's "Deadpool and Wolverine" trailer still holds the record with 365 million views.

The "Superman" teaser introduced David Corenswet as the new Superman, along with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It also gave fans a glimpse at new DC Universe characters like Krypto the Superdog, Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Green Lantern Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan). The trailer also teased the romance between Superman and Lois Lane, played by Rachel Brosnahan.

James Gunn shared more about the movie, saying it will embrace all aspects of Superman’s world, including his friendships with other superheroes and the challenges he faces. Gunn hopes to create a grounded version of Superman that fans have yet to see in movies.

The highly-anticipated film will hit theaters on July 11.
