Piers Morgan Slams SNL for Audience Reaction to Murder Suspect Joke

Piers Morgan has spoken out against the surprising reaction from the audience during a joke on "Saturday Night Live" (SNL). The incident occurred during the "Weekend Update" segment, when host Colin Jost mentioned Luigi Mangione, the main suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

As soon as Mangione’s name was brought up, the audience cheered loudly. This reaction shocked many, including Morgan, who criticized the show. Jost, caught off guard, reacted sarcastically, saying, “You’re wooing for justice, right?”

Morgan expressed his disgust on social media, writing on X: “So disgusting… and Colin Jost just smirks away as if it’s all one big giggle. Shameful moment for SNL.”

Others shared similar concerns. Jennifer Sey, a business executive, called the audience "pathetic woke conformists" on X, accusing them of supporting a “deranged Robin Hood” narrative. Right-wing commentator Stephen Miller also condemned the moment, calling it “revolting” and “vile.”

Mangione has gained widespread attention since his arrest. His Ivy League education and outspoken criticism of healthcare policies have made him a controversial figure. Some have even labeled him a modern-day Robin Hood, sparking debate online.

This isn’t the first time SNL has referenced Mangione. In a previous episode, cast member Sarah Sherman joked about people finding him attractive, calling it “psycho” behavior.

Mangione is set to appear in court in New York tomorrow. He remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
