Mariah Carey Cancels Pittsburgh Concert Due to Flu, Ahead of Christmas Tour Milestone

Mariah Carey canceled her Pittsburgh concert just hours before the scheduled performance on Wednesday, December 11, due to illness. The singer announced on X, formerly Twitter, that she had come down with the flu. "Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu," she wrote. "It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much."

The canceled performance was part of Carey’s Christmas Time Tour. Ticketmaster confirmed the cancellation, assuring ticket holders they would receive full refunds.

Carey’s next concert is set for Friday, December 13, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It remains unclear if she will be well enough to perform.

The cancellation comes just as her iconic holiday hit, All I Want for Christmas Is You, reclaimed the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this week. At her Raleigh, North Carolina, show on December 9, Carey celebrated the achievement with her 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, who joined her on stage.

In an Instagram post, Carey shared her excitement, writing, “Last night on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, I found out that All I Want for Christmas Is You returned to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better time or place to celebrate the news than on stage with my amazing fans, my kids, and my #Christmastime tour family. I love you and am so grateful to you all.”

In a recent Vogue interview, the 55-year-old singer also weighed in on when fans should start listening to Christmas music, saying she personally waits until November 1 but doesn’t judge those who start earlier.
