Lizzo Opens Up About Harassment Lawsuit: "It Was a Complete Shock"

Lizzo is breaking her silence about the harassment lawsuit filed by three of her former backup dancers, revealing she was blindsided by the allegations.

Speaking on the podcast "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer," the Grammy-winning singer shared her heartbreak over the accusations. Lizzo explained that the dancers involved in the lawsuit were not part of her 2022 "Watch Out for the Big Grrrls" tour but were individuals she had previously supported and given opportunities to.

“I always appreciated them as dancers,” Lizzo candidly told Keke Palmer. “So, for them to suddenly turn on me and file these legal complaints while I was living my dream—it was devastating.”

The singer also addressed the sexual harassment allegations specifically, admitting they were the most painful part of the ordeal.

Back in August 2023, Lizzo initially responded to the lawsuit in an emotional Instagram post, denying the claims and expressing her commitment to fostering a positive work environment.

The lawsuit, filed by former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, accused the "Truth Hurts" singer of sexual and racial harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Just a month later, a second lawsuit was filed by wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels, who alleged grueling 20-hour workdays.

Earlier this month, a judge dismissed Lizzo from Daniels’ lawsuit, but her touring company is still under scrutiny for ongoing claims.

Despite the legal battles, Lizzo continues to emphasize her dedication to uplifting those around her. Reflecting on the controversy, she told Palmer, “This has been one of the hardest times of my career, but I remain committed to spreading positivity and joy.”

While the lawsuits have certainly impacted Lizzo, the "About Damn Time" singer is focusing on moving forward and continuing to inspire through her music and platform.
