Feds Allege Lil Durk Ordered Hits in Murder-for-Hire Plot, Deny Bail

Rapper Lil Durk's legal troubles have intensified as federal prosecutors argue he is too dangerous to be granted bail. According to an unsealed warrant from April 2023, authorities allege Durk offered money to have those responsible for his brother’s murder killed. This alleged pattern of behavior is now linked to the January 2022 shooting of 24-year-old Stephon Mack.

Mack, identified as the leader of the Smashville faction of the Gangster Disciples, a rival gang to Durk's OTF Black Disciples, was killed outside the Youth Peace Center in Chicago. Investigators have arrested two suspects, Anthony Montgomery-Wilson and Preston Powell, but they believe Durk may have instigated the murder by placing monetary bounties on rivals. Text messages allegedly referencing payments from Durk have surfaced as part of the investigation.

Prosecutors have also pointed to lyrics in Durk’s 2022 song "AHHH HA," suggesting they serve as a veiled admission of involvement. In the track, Durk raps about retaliation following his brother’s death. His legal team disputes these claims, arguing that he poses no threat to the community.

Durk remains in custody, facing murder-for-hire charges related to the death of Quando Rondo's cousin. While he has yet to enter a plea in that case, the allegations continue to divide public opinion, with many supporters still backing the rapper.
