Kieran Culkin Recalls His First Acting Experience at Age 6

Kieran Culkin recently shared a story about his first time acting, recalling a commercial he did when he was just 6 years old. The actor, known for his roles in Igby Goes Down and Father of the Bride, appeared on the Smartless podcast, where he discussed his early career.

Kieran explained that the commercial involved him standing in front of a chalkboard, unable to solve a simple problem, while other kids in the ad called him names like “dummy” and “stupid.” The commercial was meant to highlight learning disabilities.

Culkin described the director of the ad, saying that once the cameras started rolling, the director was harsh, calling him “dummy,” “idiot,” and “stupid.” Despite the insults, Kieran handled the situation with maturity, acknowledging that he was only 6 years old at the time and not a professional actor yet.

The Smartless podcast hosts, Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman, were shocked by Kieran’s story. Bateman even described the experience as “traumatizing.”

Kieran and his brother, Macaulay Culkin, have been acting since they were young children, appearing in big movies and even on Saturday Night Live.
