In her message, Middleton encouraged people to take a break from their busy lives to reflect on what truly matters. She shared, “The holidays are a time to slow down and think about the things that connect us all. When we pause and step away from the pressures of daily life, we find the space to live with an open heart—embracing love, kindness, and forgiveness, which are at the heart of the Christmas spirit.”
The Princess emphasized the importance of considering others’ feelings and experiences, adding, “The Christmas story reminds us of our own vulnerabilities and the importance of showing empathy. It also shows us how much we need one another, no matter our differences.”
She continued, “Above all, Christmas inspires us to choose love over fear. Love that listens, understands, forgives, and brings hope and joy to others.”
Middleton’s message, which was originally part of a letter sent to the 1,600 attendees at Westminster Abbey, highlighted the importance of love as the greatest gift. She praised the many inspirational individuals across the U.K. who are helping those in need, saying, “This carol service celebrates each of you. It’s a reminder that during Christmas and throughout the year, we must shine for one another. In times of joy and sadness, we are all each other’s light.”
The Royal Carols: Together At Christmas special airs on ITV1 and ITVx in the U.K. on December 24. Viewers in the U.S. and Canada can catch the event on BritBox.
