Jamie Foxx Recovering After Being Struck with Glass at Birthday Dinner

Jamie Foxx is "recovering" after reportedly needing stitches following an altercation at his birthday dinner.

The 57-year-old Oscar winner was reportedly involved in an altercation at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills on Friday, Dec. 13. According to his spokesperson, Foxx was struck with a glass during the birthday celebration.

"During Jamie Foxx's birthday dinner, someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth," said his spokesperson. "He required stitches and is now recovering. The police were called, and the matter is being handled by law enforcement."

Law enforcement sources reported that police were called to the restaurant around 10 p.m. due to an alleged fight involving Jamie Foxx. However, he had left before authorities arrived. His name was reportedly included in an assault report for the incident.

Foxx, who recently released his Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was..., attended the event with his daughters Corinne and Anelise, along with his ex, Kristin Grannis.

Foxx's birthday dinner took place just days after he celebrated the release of his Netflix special, which details his medical emergency starting on April 11, 2023, and the complications that followed. In the special, Foxx revealed he suffered a stroke on the set of Back in Action in Atlanta, along with a "brain bleed" that caused the stroke.

On Dec. 9, Foxx posted a video on Instagram to thank his fans and supporters. In the caption, he wrote, “Thank you to everyone who prayed. It’s a blessing to be in a position to share my story my way... I hope the jokes make you laugh and the story inspires you.”

He ended with, "It's been quite a journey."

In the video, Foxx mentioned that he "hadn't performed on stage officially in 18 years" and shared how the crowd in Atlanta made him feel like he "hadn't missed a beat."

"Grab your popcorn! Let’s enjoy this ride, listen to the story, and laugh or cry if you need to, because I know I have," he said. "But my tears now are tears of joy, because I didn’t think I’d be able to do this."

After releasing his special, Foxx is looking ahead to the January 17 Netflix release of Back in Action, which also stars Cameron Diaz. He is also co-writing and directing the comedy All-Star Weekend, featuring Jeremy Piven, Robert Downey Jr., Eva Longoria, and others.
