Chris Rock Takes on Luigi Mangione, Trump, and Biden in SNL Monologue

For his fourth time hosting Saturday Night Live, comedian Chris Rock opened by discussing Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old who assassinated United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

"Everyone's obsessed with how attractive he is," Rock said, commenting on the overwhelming online attention the young killer received. "If he looked like Jonah Hill, no one would care. They’d have already executed him."

Rock went on, saying, "But he actually killed a man—a man with a family and kids. I truly feel for the CEO’s family. But you also have to understand, sometimes drug dealers get shot."

Rock then focused on President-elect Donald Trump, criticizing "the nine New Yorkers who didn't vote for him" for worrying about how "undignified" Trump would be as president.

"Dude, it's the U.S. presidency," Rock said. "This isn’t the most dignified job. We've had presidents show up to the inauguration with pregnant slaves. And I'm talking about Bill Clinton."

Rock went on, "You know the country we live in and its history. Do you know how many rapists are in my wallet right now? A cup of coffee in America costs seven rapists. Trump’s going to reduce it to three."

Rock also joked about Trump’s deportation plans, saying "this time it's different" because Trump will be working with "the richest African American in the world, Elon Musk."

"That's right, he is African American. Elon has more kids than the Cleveland Browns," Rock said, adding, "No one knows how to get rid of people like a South African."

Rock wrapped up his monologue with a playful defense of President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter just before his prison sentence was set to begin.

"Only an animal wouldn't pardon their son," Rock said. "Every parent in the world would do it."

He added, "Except for the parents of the Menendez brothers."
