Beyoncé Wins First Country Music Award at Billboard Music Awards

Beyoncé has earned her first country music award, taking home the trophy for Top Country Female Artist at the Billboard Music Awards on Thursday. This win comes after being left out of the Country Music Association (CMA) nominations earlier this year. Despite being snubbed by the CMA, Beyoncé's success at the BBMAs shows her growing presence in the country genre.

She was also nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Country Album, but lost out to Charli XCX and Zach Bryan, respectively. This marks Beyoncé's 17th Billboard win, and with 11 Grammy nominations on the horizon, she is likely to add to her collection next year.

Beyoncé's country recognition comes after a year of mixed results. While she was the leading nominee at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards with 12 nominations, she didn't win any awards. Despite this, she continues to receive support from country stars like Billy Ray Cyrus, who praised her achievements and said she didn’t need a CMA win to prove herself in the country music world. Dolly Parton also defended the CMA, noting the sheer talent within the country scene.

As Beyoncé continues to expand her influence, all eyes will be on the Grammys to see if she can secure more recognition in the country genre.
