Andrew Garfield Reflects on Moving Past Spider-Man Role at Marrakech Film Festival

Andrew Garfield has reflected on the challenges of moving past his iconic role as Spider-Man, revealing that he’s still working hard to distance himself from the superhero franchise. Speaking at the Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco, Garfield shared that he had to “work very hard to have less people ask questions about Spider-Man,” acknowledging that it’s a process that isn’t perfect yet. Despite this, the actor expressed gratitude for the role, noting that it helped open doors for him to work with acclaimed filmmakers like Martin Scorsese.

Garfield mentioned that his collaboration with Scorsese on Silence, where he portrayed a Jesuit priest in 17th-century Japan, was likely made possible due to his previous Spider-Man work. He described it as a "beautiful thing" that the project came together with the help of his superhero fame.

Filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, also attending the festival, shared his admiration for Spider-Man, recalling his own dreams of directing the film when Sam Raimi helmed the first version. Guadagnino even joked that he wished he had been the one to direct Garfield in the role.

In other festival news, After The Hunt, a new film starring Garfield alongside Julia Roberts, also had a notable moment as the latest buzz around the event. Meanwhile, Euphoria star Jacob Elordi's new beard look caused quite a stir online, sparking mixed reactions from fans as they debated the new style.
