Sundance Head himself called 911, and paramedics arrived to stabilize him before airlifting him to a hospital in Tyler, Texas. His wife, Misty, shared that paramedics informed her the bullet struck his stomach but missed all vital organs, lodging in a fatty area. Thankfully, the injury is not life-threatening.
The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, though Sundance Head’s agent noted that the singer often goes hunting on his ranch. Earlier that morning, Sundance had posted a photo from a tent, mentioning waking up to the "sound of silence," hinting he might have been on a hunting trip. Authorities are treating the incident as an accident.
Misty has requested prayers for her husband and is traveling to the hospital to be by his side. Sundance Head, who gained fame as the winner of The Voice in 2016 with Blake Shelton as his coach and as a 2007 American Idol semifinalist, is expected to recover.
