Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga Reflect on Their Iconic "Fake Marriage" as The Conjuring Franchise Ends

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are reflecting on their iconic onscreen relationship as Ed and Lorraine Warren, marking the end of their time together in The Conjuring franchise. Wilson shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, reminiscing about their "fake marriage" that, as he humorously pointed out, has outlasted many real ones. The two actors have portrayed the renowned demonologist and his clairvoyant wife since 2013’s The Conjuring, a film that sparked a horror universe with multiple spinoffs.

Wilson expressed his gratitude to the countless people who made the films possible and paid tribute to Farmiga, writing, "I adore you." He also honored director Michael Chaves, who helms The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final installment in the series, set to release next year.

Farmiga shared her own emotional post, reminiscing about the 5,000 days since she and Wilson first signed on to portray the Warrens. She jokingly referred to their "fake marriage" and the fun moments they shared on set, before bidding farewell to their characters.

As the franchise nears its conclusion, fans are eager for The Conjuring: Last Rites, which will follow the events teased in the post-credits scene of The Nun II. Directed by Chaves, the film will further explore the Warren couple’s involvement with the possessed priest Father Gordon, a storyline that has been a key thread throughout the Conjuring universe.

James Wan, the franchise’s creator, shared his own tribute in the comments of Wilson’s post, celebrating the enduring legacy of their characters. The Conjuring films have captivated audiences worldwide, and their cinematic legacy will continue to live on.
