Zegler quickly issued an apology, explaining that her emotions were running high after the election, as she questioned the future she would want for a potential daughter in a country where Trump had won. However, the damage was already done, and Kelly didn’t hold back on her SiriusXM show, strongly criticizing Zegler’s words.
Kelly pointed out the double standard, saying if a Broadway actress had made a similar comment about Biden supporters, they would have been fired immediately. She also made a pointed remark to Disney, suggesting they should redo their live-action "Snow White" film, which has already been filmed with Zegler in the lead role.
Kelly’s rant compared Zegler’s situation to that of Gina Carano, who was fired from "The Mandalorian" in 2021 after posting controversial statements that compared the treatment of conservatives in the U.S. to the Holocaust. Kelly argued that Zegler’s comments were worse than Carano’s and called out Disney for the hypocrisy.
As the debate continues, Zegler's apology may not be enough to ease the tensions stirred by her outspoken post.
