“I still sometimes go to the gym and feel anxious,” Evans admitted. “I look at myself in the mirror and think, ‘You don’t look good enough,’ or ‘You’re letting it go.’” Reflecting on the pressures of Hollywood, he added, “The terrible part of this industry is seeing decades of your work where there wasn’t a crease or gray hair, and now my stubble is all gray.”
Evans shared that maintaining his physique is a job requirement, noting he likely wouldn’t feel the same pressure if he weren’t an actor. “If I didn’t have to take my top off on set, I’d probably let it all go. But it’s part of my job. It keeps me on the straight and narrow.”
Despite his efforts, Evans confessed that comparison and self-doubt remain challenges. “I’ve been on a beach recently and didn’t want to take my T-shirt off,” he revealed. “I know I shouldn’t feel like that, but we’re sensitive creatures. As hard as I may look, I’m quite delicate.”
While the anxiety can be overwhelming, Evans is learning to navigate it. “I’m not massively confident about many things, but I’ve learned to process it and understand why I feel this way. It doesn’t go away, but I deal with it.”
Evans’ honesty sheds light on the pressures of an industry that often prioritizes physical appearance, proving that even the most confident characters can face personal struggles.
