In addition to the album, Mendes revealed that he will release a concert film titled For Friends and Family Only on November 14, one day before the album's release. The film captures his first performance of the album at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York, marking his return to the stage after two years. Mendes shared a clip from the film on Instagram, where he expressed how performing made him feel calm and grateful for his fans.
The movie promises to give fans a personal look into Mendes' creative process and the stories behind each song on the new album. Mendes, who first announced the album on July 31, has already released several singles, including "Nobody Knows," "Why Why Why," and "Isn’t That Enough." He described the album as his "most musically intimate and lyrically honest" work.
In previous Instagram posts, Mendes opened up about the recording process, calling it a healing experience after taking a break for his mental health. He shared that he's proud of the 12 finished songs on the album.
Mendes had postponed and eventually canceled his 2022 world tour to focus on his well-being. Reflecting on that decision during an appearance on Jay Shetty’s podcast, Mendes called it both the hardest and best choice he ever made.
Tickets for the concert film For Friends and Family Only will go on sale on October 24 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET on FriendsandFamilyFilm.com.
