Harvey Weinstein, the once-powerful Hollywood producer, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, sources revealed to NBC News. Currently serving time at Rikers Island in New York, Weinstein is undergoing treatment for this rare form of bone marrow cancer.

In a statement, his legal health representative, Craig Rothfeld, declined to share further details, citing Weinstein's privacy.

This diagnosis is the latest in a series of health setbacks for Weinstein. Just last month, he underwent emergency heart surgery to address a dangerous buildup of fluid in his lungs and heart. Earlier in July, he tested positive for COVID-19 and developed double pneumonia.

Weinstein's ongoing health issues coincide with a legal fight in Manhattan. Prosecutors are pushing to combine his original 2020 sexual assault charges with a new criminal indictment, aiming to try them together in court.

While Weinstein's 2020 conviction in New York was overturned this year due to trial errors, he remains in prison. He was convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 of rape and sentenced to 16 years, a ruling his legal team is actively appealing. Despite the overturned conviction in New York, Weinstein’s legal troubles are far from over.
