Cher shared her admiration for Harris, explaining, "I have followed Kamala Harris since she was my U.S. senator. She fought for me then and she is fighting for all of us now." She went on to say she is confident Harris and Walz will protect important rights and that she is grateful to have the chance to vote this year.
This isn't the first time Cher has spoken out on politics. She has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump, famously avoiding any compliments about him during a segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The singer has even hinted at leaving the country if Trump were to win another election.
Cher previously supported Joe Biden during his successful 2020 campaign, recording the song “Happiness Is Just a Thing Called Joe” in his honor. Now, she joins a long list of celebrities endorsing Harris, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Stevie Wonder.
Swift, who endorsed Harris in September, caused a major surge in voter registration with her statement, praising Harris as a “warrior” for important causes. Harris responded, calling Swift an “incredible artist” with the courage to stand for what she believes in.
Beyond politics, Cher has been busy in the entertainment world as well. She recently performed at the revived Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, closing the event with her iconic hits “Believe” and “Strong Enough,” accompanied by a lineup of models.
