In the segment, Dion expressed her admiration for football, saying, “I think my favorite thing about this game is its power to connect who we are, to who we were. To prove that our most powerful memories, our most enduring loves, can stay with us forever.” She donned a sweatshirt featuring the logos and helmets of both teams, highlighting their historic rivalry, as the Cowboys and Steelers have faced each other in three Super Bowls—more than any other matchup.
Dion continued, “Sometimes, some nights, it all just comes back,” referencing the nostalgia of the game. The video included clips of past matchups between the Steelers and Cowboys, as she humorously acknowledged the intense history between the teams. “But really, what beautiful passion it produced, what painful heartbreak it revealed so, so long ago. Like so many old flames, it always feels right when they’re back together. Don’t you think? Like tonight, evoking the kind of magic they once produced,” she said, calling the game a “timeless classic.”
“It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 26, 1996, holding that position for five weeks. NBC noted that Sunday Night Football has been the top show in primetime for 13 consecutive years, averaging 24 million viewers this season.
Dion’s appearance follows her acclaimed performance at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics, which was her first public performance since disclosing her Stiff-Person Syndrome diagnosis two years ago. After revealing her health struggles, she canceled all her concert dates for 2023 and 2024.
