Arnold Schwarzenegger has made a surprising political move, endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz ahead of Election Day. The former California governor and lifelong Republican voiced his concerns over the direction the country could take if Donald Trump were re-elected. This endorsement marks the first time Schwarzenegger has backed a Democrat for president.

In a candid post on X, Schwarzenegger shared a lengthy message explaining his decision, stating he’s “issuing a rare endorsement” just days before the election on November 5. Known for his distaste for politics, Schwarzenegger admitted he doesn’t entirely trust either major party. However, he emphasized that his concerns go beyond party lines, reflecting his fear over a Trump return to the White House.

Schwarzenegger’s post highlighted his belief that challenging election results is fundamentally un-American. As someone who views America as “the shining city on a hill,” he’s troubled by what he describes as Trump’s divisive rhetoric. “Calling America a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic, it makes me furious,” he wrote, expressing his view that patriotism must come before party loyalty.

Schwarzenegger also referenced Trump’s encouragement of the January 6 insurrection and accused him of villainizing Americans with opposing viewpoints. "It will just be four more years of bulls*** with no results," he wrote, warning that re-electing Trump could deepen the nation’s anger and division.

He concluded his letter by urging Americans to vote and to "put this junk behind us,” signaling his hope for a new chapter in the country’s future.
