While Kendrick kept specific plot details under wraps, she mentioned that the sequel is set to be even more intense than the original, describing it as “very weird, sort of risky, very twisty, plot-heavy.” Reflecting on the first film, she recalled it as the craziest project she had ever been involved in and praised director Paul Feig for his dark and intricate storytelling.
In addition to her role in A Simple Favor 2, Kendrick is also making her directorial debut with Woman of the Hour, a true-crime drama on Netflix. The film recounts the chilling story of serial killer Rodney Alcala, who appeared on The Dating Game in 1978 and was chosen by contestant Cheryl Bradshaw, portrayed by Kendrick. Initially signed on as an actor, Kendrick later took on the directing role, describing the experience as both tense and emotional.
Woman of the Hour is currently showing in select theaters and will be available on Netflix starting October 18, 2024.
