Jean Smart Hosts SNL Season 50 Premiere with Nostalgic Flashbacks

Jean Smart is set to host the highly anticipated season 50 premiere of Saturday Night Live (SNL) this Saturday, marking a major milestone for the show. In the latest promo, Smart humorously struggles to get a word in as nostalgic clips from past seasons interrupt her. As she reflects on "50 years of hosts, laughs, and memories," moments featuring iconic stars like Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin cut her off, leaving Smart to quip, “Can we make this a little bit more about me?”

Joining Smart for the premiere will be musical guest Jelly Roll, both making their SNL debuts. Upcoming hosts include comedian Nate Bargatze, paired with Coldplay on October 5, followed by Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks on October 12, and Michael Keaton with Billie Eilish on October 19. John Mulaney will take the stage on November 2 with musical guest Chappell Roan.

SNL will also mark its 50th anniversary with a special primetime event in February 2025. Along with new faces like Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline joining the cast, several featured players, including Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker, have been promoted to the main cast. Meanwhile, Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney, and Chloe Troast have exited the show.
