When asked about the key to their successful marriage, Jackson emphasized the importance of tolerance. He stated, “A lot of tolerance, because everybody’s got flaws, and not giving up when it would be easy to give up.” He acknowledged that both he and LaTanya have made mistakes, but they focus on whether those issues are serious enough to warrant a breakup or if they simply need to spend more time together to understand each other.
Jackson noted that there are aspects of his personality that LaTanya has learned to overlook over the years, particularly regarding his work ethic. He explained that he tends to work constantly until he feels it's time to pause.
The couple met in college and have one daughter, Zoe, who is now 42. Jackson also reflected on his past struggles with drug addiction, recalling a pivotal moment when LaTanya and Zoe found him unresponsive. His wife called a drug counselor, leading him to rehab the next day. He mentioned that he didn’t resist the treatment because he was simply exhausted.
On the professional front, Jackson will appear in "The Piano Lesson," alongside actors like Josh David Washington and Erykah Badu. The film is set to be released in select theaters on November 8, 2024, before becoming available on Netflix.
