Louisiana Rapper Sues Quavo, Claims He Stole 2018 Hit 'Bubble Gum'

Quavo is facing a new lawsuit over his 2018 hit song, "Bubble Gum," with allegations that he stole the track's flavor from a Louisiana rapper. Lamount London, who performs under the name L.Mont, claims he shared the original idea with Quavo in person back in 2016. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, L.Mont says he opened for 2 Chainz and Quavo's group Migos at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on February 9, 2016. After the concert, L.Mont handed Quavo a CD containing his song, also titled "Bubble Gum," which he had recorded in 2015.

L.Mont hoped the track would lead to future collaborations but never received a response from Quavo. However, he alleges that when Quavo released his debut solo album Quavo Huncho in 2018, track #18, "Bubble Gum," bore a striking resemblance to his own work. L.Mont is claiming that everything from the lyrics to the melody was copied, and now he's seeking damages for the alleged infringement.

The lawsuit is currently ongoing, and Quavo's team has not yet responded to the claims.
