Jane Sibbett Shares Hilarious Behind-the-Scenes Moment with Matthew Perry on Friends

In a recent interview with The Sun, Friends actress Jane Sibbett, known for playing Carol Willick, shared a memorable behind-the-scenes moment involving co-star Matthew Perry. Reflecting on a scene from Friends season 2, where her character breastfeeds baby Ben, Sibbett revealed an unexpected improvisation that left Perry surprised.

The episode, titled The One with the Breast Milk, required Chandler Bing (played by Perry) and Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) to react awkwardly as they saw Carol breastfeeding. Sibbett, however, made the scene more authentic than Perry expected, improvising in a way that left him visibly blushing.

Speaking about the moment, Sibbett said, "I actually tried to nurse the babies — with their mother's permission — and that's why you get such a hilarious reaction from Matt Perry." She explained that Perry had anticipated she would merely imitate the action, but her choice to perform it realistically threw him off. "He was like, 'Whoa, Sibbett's breast is out,'" she added, noting that Perry’s real shock became part of the scene’s humor.

The baby in the scene, unaware of the situation, reacted in an unexpected way, making the moment even more entertaining. Sibbett joked that Perry’s discomfort was obvious, saying, "You can almost see him blush if you look closely enough at that take."

For Sibbett, it became one of her favorite memories from the show. She couldn’t stop laughing at Perry’s response, adding, "I’m sure he’d seen breasts before, but he’d never seen me whip mine out." The laughter from that moment carried on beyond the camera, creating a cherished memory for the cast.

The interview comes as Friends marks its 30th anniversary, with cast and creators reminiscing about the show’s impact. Sadly, the milestone also brings memories of Matthew Perry, who passed away in 2023. Perry, beloved for his sharp humor and perfect comedic timing, left a lasting legacy both on-screen and off.

In a recent retrospective interview, Friends creators Marta Kauffman, David Crane, and executive producer Kevin Bright reflected on Perry’s career and struggles. Perry, who battled addiction for many years, tragically died at the age of 54 from an accidental drug overdose, leaving behind a powerful legacy for both his fans and fellow actors.
