Expressing her gratitude for the show's lasting appeal, Cox said she feels fortunate that Friends continues to resonate with audiences of all ages. The series, which premiered on NBC on September 22, 1994, ran for ten seasons until May 2004. It followed the lives of six friends navigating life in New York City, with Cox's portrayal of Monica Geller standing out for her competitive nature and love of cleanliness.
Reflecting on the show's 30-year anniversary, Cox was struck by how quickly time has passed, joking, "It's just insane to me because it feels like time goes so fast, and I don't realize it." She remembered how the cast used to talk about time dragging during the original run of the show, a feeling she no longer shares.
Despite the years that have passed since Friends ended, Cox remains proud of the show and its impact. She praised the series' writing and cast, noting that the jokes still hold up, and the characters remain as relatable as ever. Although she hasn't watched the show recently, whenever she comes across an episode, she finds herself unable to stop watching.
Cox also believes Monica Geller remains relevant today, laughing as she said, "Monica is alive and well. Are you kidding?" The character's quirks and memorable moments continue to be referenced widely, both in everyday conversations and on social media.
As for a possible reboot, Cox is doubtful. Referring to comments made by the show's creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, she acknowledged that it would be difficult to recapture the original magic. She explained that anything involving "redoing" would be hard because of how special the show and its cast were.
